Hearing him complain (in "Jealousy And Bitterness") that "My brother got steak,
and all I got was baked beans!" is a joy, both line and delivery, and singer and listener alike are in on the laughs without tipping over the line into in-jokery.

For all the accomplishments here, there's a feeling they haven't hit their full potential, and they may yet come up with a record which truly transcends its influences. But I'd still take the wit, charm and style of this album over, say, any bunch of Led Zeppelin throwbacks doing the rounds. Set the DeLorean for 1955.
