This isn't me I swear...
23.06.2008Chris Waitt has been dumped by every girl he's ever been out with and after being dumped by his girlfriend of three weeks, he goes on a mission to find out why. The film's like a real-life High Fidelity as he revisits his old girlfriends in an attempt to figure out where he's going wrong. It's a temptation I'm sure a lot of men have contemplated but after this traumatic journey, you might want to think twice.
To be honest, it's not too difficult to see why he has problems – he's a scruffy mess, with permanent gaping holes in his jeans, a flat that looks like a teenager's bedroom and he looks sorely in need of a good wash. Add to this his tendency to be late for every meeting he's arranged (including some of the interviews in the film) and you can see why his partners would quickly lose patience with him. This largely escapes him though as he bumbles from one ex to another.
Waitt's not a bad looking guy under the grime – some of the old photos he produces of him with ex-girlfriends show a happy, tanned, surfer-esque image that seems a million miles away from the dishevelled mess he is today.
Not many of his exes are very keen to go on record about their relationship, - just turning up at the door with a camera crew is probably not the best way to get someone on your side. He's been dumped by phone, by text, by webcam and one exes even wrote a book about their relationship with him as one of the characters who gets brutally murdered.
In fact it seems to start with that the only woman who wants to talk to him is a girl he dated when he was 11 and then only after his mum intervenes to set it up.
He speaks in a kind of slow monotone, which just emphasises his slacker style image, but he is immediately endearing, sitting there glumly whilst exes heap criticisms on to him.
After trying and failing to interview a number of his exes, he decides that the best thing to do might be to try to get a new girlfriend. It's here, that another major problem is revealed.: Waitt has a severe case of impotence and has done for quite some time.
