This Charming Man
24.04.2008 Are you excited about that?
Yoav - Yeah it's my first time at Coachella and I'm very excited. The festival season is going to be fun as I'm going to playing a lot of countries that I've had some success in I'm going to be going to Russia and Canada. Strangely they're all cold countries, I'm still trying to figure that out. But it's great to pay your dues and have these things happen.
I'm not adverse to working with other musicians but I think this record should just be me. Part of me is a singer/songwriting and part of me is a DJ. It'd be great to be able to intersperse my live show with both parts and I'd love to do a more visual representation on stage like Bjork and Beck.
TAC - Who makes a better audience? Where do you enjoy playing the most?
Yoav - Every place is different, it really depends on the night. England's tough. It's been way more enjoyable recently as I've found more people receptive to my music. If Rockstar 101 was a computer game, England would be level 10.
TAC - Why do you think that is?
Yoav - I think people here are rather sceptical. They're overloaded with stuff as there's so much out there and the media is extremely jaded. They always have this flavour of the month thing and it's almost better not to be that. It was really interesting playing with Tori Amos. In Boston and Philly you really have to engage the crowd before they get going. Somewhere like Montreal is really fun to play as they're all open to new sounds, and the crowd react really well to you.
