The Caped Crusader
01.05.2008TAC - What's that going to be like then?
SD - More emo! You what? Emo's a good thing! Some of the things I've heard, like Fall Out Boy, I wouldn't say that was emo, I would say it's commercial pop punk with costumes.
I think what's important are bands like Refused and their album The Shape of Punk to Come. Emo has its roots in backlashing against hardcore, against what's already been established and that's what I'd like to do, something different.
TAC - Are you excited about the return of Rage Against the Machine then?
SD - Oh yeah. It's amazing, whether you're 15, 22 or 36, or whatever age, they're as relevant now as when they started. As long as it's same as it was when they were playing before it'll be great. They've always been active politically, even when dormant – Tom Morello's been doing work as the Nightwatchman, which is good to see.
TAC - You're still very young and have managed to achieve such great success – what advice would you give to young up and coming people?
SD - Don't worry about success. Don't worry about the records you sell. Just stay true to yourself and keep playing music and having fun, because when you're not having fun any more, it's not worth it.
