Sugar & Spice
04.02.2008The world can be split into two types of people; those who chow down on savoury pancakes and those who prefer the sweeter side of life. This pancake day, Joy Scott translates your tastes into delectable day time looks.
Sugar
Innocent, and charming but not as naïve as appearances suggest, the girl next door is all sweetness and light. Think dewy, blushing skin with bitten pink lips and shiny eyes.
Good girls don’t use fake tan. Well, they don’t look like they do anyway. Ditch deeply dark hues in favour of more subtle shading. St Tropez Everyday Face (£12.95) is a gradual self tanner that gives a gentle sun kissed glow to skin that doesn’t scream satsuma. Applied daily across areas where you would naturally catch the sun, such as cheek bones and the forehead, the magnificent moisturiser will slowly build up a natural looking, soft tan.
Complexions should be dewy so if you can bear it, steer away from foundation and use cover up where needed. For a rosy glow, respectable ladies run around the block and pinch their cheeks till they ache. Alternatively, faking a pretty, pink and perky pallor can be achieved with a dusting of Benefit’s Dandelion (£22.50).
Act sweet sixteen and never been kissed with a juicy mouthful of fruity gloss. Slick bubblegum tints and tones across your prized pout. Stila Lip Glaze in Raspberry (£15.00) is a mouth-watering magenta which will have the boys salivating for a tempting taste.
Keep eyes simple but sparkling. Curl eyelashes before sweeping Jemma Kidd Lasting Tint Mascara in Black (£12.00 at Boots) from root to tip. The stay put formula lasts for over a day, without the mess and expense of an in-salon eyelash dye. Finish with brightening eye drops for a dazzling gaze, look for drops with a blue tint which makes eye whites appear brighter and twinkling with innocence.
Spice
Earthy tones, bronze flashes, smoky eyes and nude lips allude to a rebellious nature and fearless attitude. If you like your look to have some bite, then spice up your look with these key ingredients.
