We at Three's A Crowd like nothing more than a bit of tongue firmly placed in the cheek which is why we love Estelle's new song American Boy.

With Estelle herself singing sweetly about being taken to New York and LA and Kanye West joining her to rap about WAGS it's partly the lyrics which make this a stand out track.

But it's also that American-esque sheen to the production alongside Estelle's understated yet accomplished vocals which make this such a great song. And it's no surprise. The Londoner is now based in New York and has been working with Will.I.Am, Wyclef, John Legend and Mark Ronson.

Although she's now based over the pond the Brit is adding to the growing level of British female talent over the last few months. First Adele, then Duffy and now Estelle are giving UK music a new edge.

Despite fast becoming a hugely respected act on the hip hop scene, Estelle's initial releases in 2004 only ever reached as high as number 14 but now Estelle has gone straight in at number one pushing Welsh singer Duffy off the top spot.
