Rihanna sprung onto the scene in 2005 with the catchy Pon de Replay. Her next big hit was S.O.S and I am happy to say that Rihanna is back to her best with this wonderful number.

After cursing the summer with the annoying but catchy Umbrella, Rihanna had a lot to answer for. Okay, so it got to number one for a long, long time but name one person who will admit to liking it.

Having said that, at least Umbrella wasn’t as offensive to the ears the whiny Unfaithful with its over-the-top lyrics – ‘I don’t want to be a murderer’ – and nasal vocals.

But salvation has well and truly come in Please Don’t Stop The Music with its fantastically catchy beat, a sampling of Michael Jackson’s Wanna Be Startin Something.

Rihanna’s voice is perfectly suited to these kind of club numbers, where in songs such as Unfaithful her unique tone can sound whiny, nasal and flat, in songs like this one her vocals carry the melody like few others could.

Please Don’t Stop The Music will feature on DJs playlists for months to come and won’t be leaving your radio waves any time soon.
