Ready to Go
08.08.2008I really like We Are the Ocean. And we're friends with Eliot Minor so if any of them win we'll be happy.
TAC: How was Download Festival?
JW: We got added to the bill really late and had to go straight afterwards because we were playing with Scouting for Girls that evening. We were really nervous but we had so much fun – I think James drank half a bottle of vodka! We couldn't be happier with the way it went.
TAC: You're headlining your own tour in August. That's sold out already hasn't it?
JW: Yeah, we're really surprised at how fast it's sold. We've got some really dedicated fans!
TAC: You've played with a whole host of people – Futureheads, We Are Scientists, Scouting for Girls – how was that? Who was the best person to play with?
JW: Scouting For Girls were amazing to us. They're such nice guys – to play with them was incredible and the crowds' reaction was really good. We love playing live and we've played with [Post Hardcore Band] The Blackout which is different crowd entirely. It's nice to know that we can play to both sets of fans.
TAC: What about Play.com Live – how was that for you guys?
JW: Oh that was really good. We really enjoyed it. It was awesome to play with all those bands on the bill. We got some great Tom Clancy action going backstage. [funnily enough a lot of bands have mentioned this game... -Ed]
TAC: You don't have a bass player, why not?
JW: It's never really occurred to us...
TAC: Are you pop punk's White Stripes then?
JW: [laughs] We've always used a laptop for that side of things. We never used to have a drummer either so that's a more recent addition.
TAC: How much is the programming a part of the act? How important is that to your sound?
JW: A lot of it.
