Ready to Go

08.08.2008

Go: Audio are a four piece pop rock band sure to make a splash in 2008. Fresh from supporting the likes of Scouting For Girls and The Futureheads, they've got their own headlining tour in August. They've just been nominated for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards and have just scored a Top 40 hit with their single Made Up Stories. We spoke to Keyboardist Josh Wilkinson about suddenly making it big and why fans are so important.

Three's A Crowd: Hello Josh – how's it going?

Josh Wilkinson:
Very well thanks....

TAC: You've had an enormous amount of acclaim from Radio 1, (Made Up Stories was record of the week) and Kerrang! Did you expect this kind of critical reception?

JW: No .. We're taking one thing at a time. It's going really well for us and the fact that everyone's playing us is amazing. Really amazing. It's a bit of a shock for us. I remember James and I were in the car and Edith Bowman was on Radio 1 and she played Made Up Stories. We both did a bit of a double take - “Hang on a minute – that's us!”

TAC: You've experienced a surge of popularity –having over a million views of your Myspace profile. And I've heard your fans hand-picked your first single. How important are you fans to your music?

JW:
Really important. We've always been big on Myspace and we try to reply to as many people as we can. When we had Woodchuck up there in the beginning so many people wanted a CD of ours – so we released the Woodchuck EP. We invited all those people from Myspace to be in the video. We had a fun day and they all made it look excellent!

TAC: You've been nominated for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards How do you rate your chances? Who do you think will win?

JW: [laughs] Well we're just really looking forward to it. We didn't even expect to get nominated.
