Raise an Eyebrow

Whether yours are strong like Keira Knightley's or thin and angular like Angelina Jolie's, your eyebrows make a huge difference to your face.

But without the help of super stylists to help you get the best from your eyebrows, it can all go a bit wrong sometimes, and badly plucked eyebrows can completely ruin the symmetry of the face.

The best thing to do, like most beauty treatments, is to leave it to the professionals but we understand - occasionally you've over plucked a little here or tried desperately to match up the two sides, a stray hair pokes the wrong way or your fair hair means your eyebrows look like they don't exist.

So we've searched high and wide for the best eyebrow products and hunted down a bit of eyebrow advice to make sure you get the best of your brow.

First things first, there is a formula to a good eyebrow. Whether thick or thin, eyebrows must start in line with the corner of the eye. Plucking further in (like Gwen Stefani) will leave you looking a little odd.

Whether you have a strong arch like Beyonce which or a straighter brow like Jessica Alba there should be a progression from the inside to the end with the brow gradually getting thinner. It sounds obvious but gradual is the key word, the tadpole look or eyebrows that go straight up and across, don't flatter any face and just look a bit ridiculous.

For plucking strays we love the tweezers from LA Tweez which have a light in the middle. No matter where you are the cleverly placed light will show up those strays and the sharp tweezers will whip them off.

A lot of people neglect the eyebrows when doing their make-up, but think about it, if you've darkened and defined your eyes with eyeliner and mascara it makes sense to define your brows too. You'd be amazed at how much it makes your eyes pop.

We love MAC's Brow Set for adding definition. Just sweep the brush over brows and add a little drama to your look. The dark colour is perfect for brunettes but maybe a bit too much for blondes.
