Dubai is no stranger to extravagance and the latest resort to open in the Middle Eastern paradise is due to take that to a whole new level.

Opening next week is Atlantis, The Palm, the flagship resort situated on the first of Dubai's man-made, palm-shaped islands which officially launches alongside the hotel.

The hotel features the largest water park in the Middle East and a marine habitat with 65,000 different species of marine life, a luxury spa as well as a range of designer boutiques.

For foodies, the choice of dining is pretty unbeatable with four celebrity restaurants – Locatelli, Nobu, Santi Santamaria and Michel Rostang all in one place as well as themed bars for the evening entertainment.

The rooms are all luxurious with views of the clear sea but for those who want to get a little closer to nature are the Lost Chamber Suites which have glass walls so guests can look directly into the aquarium.

Even the party that Atlantis are hosting in November is due to be a grandiose event with Kylie performing for a rumoured £2 million, a host of VIPs attending and invitations encrusted with Swarovski crystals.
