Everyone's Vying for Beyonce's Crown

Solange, Beyonce's younger sister has come out with a new single and while she's blessed with a good voice, good looks and an A-list family little sis can't avoid being compared to big sis. The single and video for I decided sounds and looks like a watered-down version of Beyonce. It's not bad but with genes like that people are expecting gold.

Jennifer Hudson – she lost out on American Idol only to go and get an Oscar nomination for Dreamgirls – is releasing Spotlight. Beyonce may be sagging on the acting front but she needn’t worry about losing out on the music scene. It’s a decent song but sounds more like a filler than the big single that everyone expects from the supremely talented Hudson.

Beyonce’s Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland – is it just us or is the music industry getting smaller? - will be releasing the last single off her album Broken. Previous single Work rocked but the singer’s latest offering is little more than a pleasant R&B ballad that will have a few heartbroken girls singing along but won’t be breaking any records.

And then we move on to Beyonce – ok, just kidding. We move on to Rihanna. The good girl gone bad is set on making sure her songs are always on the radio. Latest single Rehab isn’t our favourite but has that classic Rihanna flair. Her voice grates, her videos always involve a lot of sexy self-touching but she’s different and we like different.

Hayden Panettiere of Heroes fame is expanding her horizons by doing the music thing. We hear rumours that the TV star can sing but Wake Up Call doesn’t convince. The over-produced vocals are reminiscent of Paris Hilton's musical attempts and the video has Panettiere doing every look, pout and wiggle at exactly the right choreographed point. We're all for having fingers in lots of pies but this is one pie that Panettiere should just leave at the bakery. (I know that was awful. Apologies)
