From the Red Carpet

Last week 10,000 people descended on the O2 Arena for the premiere of Prince Caspian, the second film in the Chronicles of Narnia series.

We joined the hoards of fans to witness how the UKs biggest ever premiere unfolded.

The cast and a host of TV personalities were joined by Narnia characters and celebrity horses (they'd also been in Gladiator) and crowds of excited fans as they all made their way down the red carpet.

The big star of the night was Ben Barnes who plays Prince Caspian himself and despite every girl in the crowd screaming at his arrival Barnes said: “I can guarantee I am the most excited person here!”

Anna Popplewell, who plays Susan, looked every bit the starlet as she shone in diamonds and a pretty purple dress. “It's really nice for us British actors to bring the film home,” she said

The whole event was a surreal experience particularly seeing David Walliams, who readily admitted to probably having the smallest part in the film, and Apprentice loser Raef Bjayou chatting together merrily while two men went at each other with swords in the background.

The spectacle outside was followed by the screening of the film on the largest cinema screen ever constructed in Europe.

Just like everything else about the night this second installmentis a bigger spectacle that the first with more action and battles scenes as well as some stunning visual effects.

Douglas Gresham, the stepson of Chronicles of Narnia author C.S. Lewis, said last night he thought the films were “fabulous” and that his stepfather would have been proud.
