Mob Rules

03.09.2008

Located in a dingy building which looked like a condemned warehouse, plastered in freshly ripped Rocknrolla posters and bizarrely themed papier mache covered chairs, we attended the press conference with cast members from the movie and Mr. Madonna himself, director Guy Ritchie.

Q - Guy, what were you thinking when you made this movie?

Guy Ritchie – I hope people go and see it was what I was thinking. I felt there was an audience for this kind of film. Also, it seemed to me that the timing seemed to be right. It's kind of reflecting the evolution I've seen take place in London in the last 20 years and frankly I just wanted to enjoy myself and this was the best way I knew how creatively.

Q – I'm intrigued by the man-eating crayfish – how did you come up with that?

Guy Ritchie - A friend of mine had his banks eaten away. They've got crayfish traps and if you throw a chicken in there, in the morning when you pull it out, it's just bones. I thought it was interesting.

Q – Do you think London has changed for the better or the worse in the last 20 years?

Guy Ritchie – I constantly believe it's changed for the better, that is my experience.. Like most things, there's blessing and curses but in my experience, London's much more vibrant and interesting place.

Q - And the Russians, are they a good or a bad influence?

Guy Ritchie
– Oh, I love a Russian. Definitely a good influence.

Q – A question for Toby Kebbell. You're looking quite emaciated as the crack head and I was wondering, is that a natural physique or did Guy put you on the Christian Bale Diet?

Toby Kebbell
– No that was my decision. Guy wanted him to be thin, he's a crackhead, crackheads are thin. But Guy didn't want me smoking crack, so we had to find a different way. I starved for 7 days, took a lot of my muscle weight down and then ate one meal a day for 9 weeks over the rest of the shoot, so that was how it happened.
