Blondes vs Brunettes

The Shine War

Locks with Lustre

30.12.2007

I am a natural blonde. Ok, a natural dark blonde but who's going to argue. I have my hair highlighted with beautiful golden and amber tones and when I step out of the salon the sun bounces off my shining crown of glory, all radiant health and swirling down to my shoulders.

It never lasts for long though. For a blonde to maintain a shine rather than a straw like thatch is tricky, unlike you enviable brunettes. I have never seen a dull haired brunette. Honestly, a deep rich brown seems to shine and bounce all day every day and I wanted in.

I was duly recommended a salon, definitely strange in hindsight (my hairdresser apparently liked clubbing at a place called ‘Toilet’?) and after a few hours emerged with my new shade of brown. Well, I use the term ‘brown’ in the loosest possible way, as my hair was actually a browny-green pond like shade. I wasn’t fully aware of the awfulness of this faux pas until I went back to Brooks and Brooks (why on earth did I ever stray!) where Sally whooped with laughter and immediately took me in for an SOS colour.

Needless to say I haven’t strayed from my blonde tones since. However, intense colouring does take its toll and occasionally my poor head of hair starts to look a little sad. So, imagine my joy at discovering Bio Lustre. This is a priceless preparation that will help repair and restore damaged tresses from chemical processes. Bio Lustre repairs the hair shaft using a synthetic polymer, which acts as a bond and filler, returning damaged hair to its oh so innocent and virginal state. This treatment is for anyone who wants to give their stressed out strands a well deserved treat and is ideal for those with hair extensions.

Firstly your hair is washed in a special shampoo, which opens up the hair shafts so that the polymer can really penetrate. Then the treatment is applied and left to dry for twenty minutes until it is almost hard at which point your hair is washed, sealed and blow-dried. This quick one hour treatment really is a wonder and I highly recommend it for everyone who needs a little confidence boost.
