Asthma and Arthritis Averter
It has been reported in the past that pregnant women who consume an olive oil rich diet may be protecting their unborn children from childhood asthma. The elixir has also been found to contain some of the same properties as anti-inflammatory drugs, with 50g of extra-virgin olive oil being equivalent to around a tenth of a dose of ibuprofen. The anti-inflammatory affects mean olive oil may protect joints against crippling rheumatoid arthritis.

Skin Saviour
Olive oil doesn’t have to be just a cooking ingredient. In Italy and Spain it is frequently used to soothe sunburnt skin and other with direct application. Japanese researchers have even found that doing this may reduce the risk of skin cancer.

Skin also benefits from the consumption of olive oil as it is bountiful with good fatty acids which are required by the body, but cannot be produced by it. Moisturising and calming inflammation, olive oil is a great choice for those with dry or sensitive skin types, and its anti-bacterial properties aid the fight against acne.
