Indie's A Cracker
19.05.2008When news broke that Harrison Ford would be stepping back into the shoes of one of the most iconic roles of the eighties die-hard Indiana Jones fans were filled with both excitement and anticipation.
It seemed that the latest instalment had ruined a much-loved franchise in spectacular Star Wars proportions when a damning review was leaked.
But the official premiere at Cannes was met with mixed reviews and applause. Many critics were of the view that the sheer nostalgia that accompanies Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (still not too keen on that title) cancels out any flaws.
Any qualms about Harrison Ford's age were soon forgotten as he delivered wisecracks and armed with his whip and fedora took everyone back to 1981.
Some weren't as enamoured describing it as overlong, old fashioned and with an inplausible plot.
Despite some criticism, the good news is that it's not a complete stinker and that's good enough for us and without doubt will be good enough for the box office.
