Think of the one time in your life when you really push the boat out and commit yourself 100% to having an incredible travel experience in an uncharted destination.

No I’m not talking gap year travels (though those often come a close second and involve a whole lot more ‘firsts’); but rather the height of romance: the honeymoon.

Blissful alone time with your new spouse; a perfect holiday atmosphere; a startling sense of freedom; hopefully a new destination to discover; and the rosy glow of romance covering the whole experience in a haze of happiness. does it get much better than this? Maybe not. All the more reason to make it the trip of your life.

So where do you even begin when planning your honeymoon? Well, a lot of it depends on what kind of a couple you are. If you want to get far away from it all and escape to a picture perfect fantasy world where you can enjoy the solitude of each other’s company then Indonesia is just the place; white sand beaches, lush tropical greenery and total luxurious calm make it the picture of romance. And if you fancy a bit more activity then there are ancient temples to explore and some world-class diving to engage in.

Then again, maybe you’re the adventurous types and you want to use your honeymoon to do something incredible together. After all, there’s nothing as bonding as a challenge! I’d suggest you head to Tanzania for a first-rate safari. Seeing the big five up close will definitely get your adrenalin pumping and you’ll jump into each other’s arms…ok, just kidding, I won’t get all Mills and Boone on you. Add a little quiet time on the end with a few days in Zanzibar where the perfect quiet beaches stretch on for miles.

And for those who want to go closer to home, there’s plenty on offer in Europe. Boring? I don’t think so. Try Puglia for a taste of real southern Italy and then jet over to the glorious Amalfi Coast for luxury and romance of the old school variety. Nothing’s quite so relaxing and romantic as the Mediterranean lifestyle – when you’re drifting on your private yacht in the shadow of chic Capri you’ll know just what I mean.
