Gluttony Is No Sin
11.01.2008Everyone knows someone who has everything. So when birthdays role around you scratch your head again wondering what on earth you could possibly get them this year.
Why not make 2008 the year you give more interesting presents. Forget chocolates, flowers, jewellery - wait no, we like jewellery. But for something a little more personal look no further than The Gluttonous Gardener (no, not a strange fat man being sent round kiss-a-gram-style to ‘tidy’ the garden). The Gluttonous Gardener is actually is a mail order delivery of original presents for every occasion. There really is a fabulous range of gifts, witty combinations of fine food, drink and wonderful plants.
I received a Calamondin Orange Tree, a Fig Tree and the Thai Chef’s Crate. First of all I have to take a moment to describe just how beautifully packaged they all were. Gluttonous Gardener presents are packed in rustic wooden crates, cocooned in wood-wool, and hand tied with raffia which really sets a very high standard. Woodwool, is quite messy and not particularly carpet friendly so I recommend you open the crate outside, but is still the best and most natural packaging material that exists.
Descriptions, care instructions and even recipe suggestions are included to help your plant reach its full potential. The Calamondin Orange Tree is a marvelous, thick rooted plant, covered in healthy leaves and clusters of little ripening oranges. The Fig Plant came with a small jar of award winning fig-jam, as a little teaser for what you can do with your figs once they are ripe and ready. The Thai Chef’s Crate contains a potted, wonderfully lemony fragranced Kafir Lime plant for the windowsill or conservatory, some Thai Basil seeds to grow together with a pot of palm sugar, chilli sauce and fish sauce, some essenials of the Thai kitchen.
This is a wonderful idea and one that is professionally and expertly executed by The Gluttonous Gardener. This is the site to shop on for someone who has everything.
