Retro Eighties gaming hero Pac Man is back. What better way to welcome back the return of eighties style?
Giles’ collection for Spring Summer 2008 shimmied down the catwalk at London Fashion Week yesterday, paying homage to the ghost gobbling eighties icon.

A futuristic twist was brought to the table with giant Pac Man helmets fashioned by the acclaimed milliner Stephen Jones.

Focus is on romantic shapes fused with lively patterns. Sublime shift dresses and clean, crisp silhouettes showcased enlarged camouflage prints which consumed entire outfits as well as framing dresses in pastel pink, canary yellow and bright turquoise.

The form fitting, figure hugging cuts contrasted with big, bubble dresses which swooshed and billowed past the front row.

Texture plays a key role too with high-shine PVC panelling offset against feather collars, silver lame and peek-a-boo chiffon tops.

Of course, Pac Man made an appearance, embroidered in shiny metallic threads across tunics. As ever, Giles Deacon has created a wearable yet quirky collection. It is exactly what fashion should be; flattering, flirtatious and, perhaps most of all, fun.
