Amanda Wakeley at London Fashion Week

To the electric notes of The Knife and Kate Bush, Amanda Wakeley made her mark on London Fashion Week. With a packed out audience, rather late in the day, it was clear who everyone had waited for.

Known for her ability to make women feel both utterly beautiful and immaculately dressed, her A/W 2008 collection didn’t disappoint. The day wear collection was sleek and polished, with stunning shift dresses, crisp tailoring and pencil skirts. The combined use of wool, fur and pvc ensured that the collection looked fresh and in tune with the mood of the season.

Eveningwear was simply sublime, with metallic embellishment and a collection of flowing silk and chiffon floor length dresses that left the audience in awe.

Amanda Wakeley cleverly guided the audience through her collection starting with blacks, greys and creams for daywear leading into the more exotic and eye catching emerald greens and purples for evening.

Key pieces in this collection included a new look white poncho coat, a chain mail inspired short dress and what can only be described as a transcendent emerald green silk dress.

Hillary Alexander (Fashion Editor for the Telegraph), Robin Gibb (of Bee Gee fame for those of you under 65) and Duncan Bannatyne (Dragons Den Don) were all in the front row - A high profile guest list for a high profile collection.
