10.03.2008If I could choose to look like anyone in the world I would be the spitting image of Brigitte Bardot circa 1965. Please?
The plump and plush pout, long wavy locks and breathtaking big eyes matched with her curvaceous hourglass frame; it’s no wonder that the term ‘sex kitten’ was coined with her in mind. She played sweet naivety against seductive bombshell as if the two went hand in hand and her beauty style is an inspiration for many of today’s starlets.
We might not have been blessed with the goddess-like genes which Bardot showcased in her youth, but with a bit of help we can achieve our own take on her iconic look.
The Big Tease
Brigitte Bardot’s iconic hairstyle combines a rock and roll edge with romantic sensibilities, but most of all Bardot hair means big hair. To inject some voluptuous volume into hair use a thickening lotion or volumising spray before blow-drying with a large radial brush; Wella Shockwaves Boost It! Heat Defense Root Boosting Spray is a must-have for supercharged size. Bardot mastered the art of the tease when it came to both her men and her hair. Tease locks with some skilful back-combing at the crown using a tail-comb with close-set teeth, then smooth over the top of the mussed up mop with a good quality brush – you can’t beat Mason Pearson when it comes to hair brushes. By now, hair should have some gentle volume in the back of the head; take this section and twist the ends so that the hair is further raised and pin in place. Use a few more pins to pull back some front sections of the hair et voila! Bardot’s tantalisingly tousled hair style is yours.
Screen Siren
Eyes made for winking, cheeks which are there for blushing and lips designed for kissing – Bardot make-up whispers seductively of lust and love. Her full, pouty lips smothered in pale pink lipstick were her trademark; make it your own with a bleached-out bubblegum shade such as Nars Pigale, after lining the lips with a similar shade of lip pencil for a stupendously sexy smacker.
