Eco Auto
19.05.2008It may not be what Ken Livingstone had in mind when he introduced the low emission zone but Nissan have created the ultimate in eco friendly autos.
Oh and it doesn't reverse, it turns around on itself exorcist style so you can drive forwards backwards, if you know what I mean.
But don't worry you won't suddenly have to deal with the guy in front of you looking straight at you when you're at traffic lights, the Nissan Pivo is only on display at the the Science Museum.
From this Saturday the concept car will form part of a new exhibition called The Science of Survival.
The futuristic vehicle is powered by a lithium-ion battery which generates no emissions. The car's cabin rotates 360º making parking a breeze (and road rage terrifying)
The Science of Survival highlights ways of changing and adapting how we live to be able to survive in 2050. The new, hands-on family exhibition uses the latest environmental research to challenge visitors to create their own sustainable city of 2050.
Other new inventions at the exhibition include the ominous sounding Toilet-lid sink which recycles the water we use to wash our hands by sending it straight to the toilet.
There is also the Eglu Chicken House which allows you to keep chickens and produce eggs in an urban garden and the eCube a device which 'imitates food' to reduce energy used by fridges and freezers. No I can't figure out that last one either.
The Pivo will be unveiled this Friday and The Science of Survival runs at the Science Museum till 2 November.
