Alexandra Watson is Britain's leading Happiness expert and has worked with the diva-voiced but super-shy Leona Lewis to improve her confidence. Alex is also a bestselling author and coaches people regularly to make the most of themselves through the choices they make and the way they approach life.

We met with Alex to find out more about her work and we must say she certainly made us smile. So, if you're feeling a bout of S.A.D coming on read on for Alex's happiness tips.

1. Get to Know Yourself Better: Discover for yourself things, activities and thoughts that make you feel happy. Know what makes you genuinely feel happy rather than relying on what you’ve been told by others.

2. Treasure What’s Around You: Take the time to appreciate what is around you right now like your family, friends, health and treasured memories. You will feel more fulfilled when you focus on what you already have.

3. Your Imperfections are Perfect! Everyone’s different and that should be celebrated! So no matter what shape, size, age or style you are, don’t cringe when you look at photographs of yourself and criticize what you see, everything you might consider to be imperfect about you is what makes you, you!

4. Document Your Progress: If a life is worth living then its worth recording. Photographs or a diary are great ways to show how far you have come in life. Aim high and set yourself happiness and success goals so when you look back you have great evidence of your achievements.

5. Share and Celebrate Your Successes: Always celebrate your successes, no matter how insignificant you think they are, with your family and friends. Acknowledging life’s little and more substantial accomplishments makes you feel great and builds momentum for even more success.
