Desperate for More

They're back, they're more desperate than ever and we've never been more excited. Last series eclipsed expectations with the storyline, plot twists and surprises so series four has a lot to live up to.

When we left Desperate Housewives last year we saw Susan married off, Carlos and Gabi getting it on, Lynette receiving some difficult news and finally Edie hanging herself before the curtain came down on series three.

The thought of waiting months on end to find out what happened was almost unbearable but now we can breathe a sigh of relief.

Edie was faking it and her cunning (and crazy) plan seems to have worked as she's put a whole tool box in the works of Carlos and Gabi's affair. Edie's hospitalisation stops Carlos from running away with newly wed Gabbi who's waiting with bags packed.

Elsewhere Brie and Lynette's secrets have become hard to hide. Brie's fake pregnancy is getting more and more difficult to conceal as everyone wants to poke her stomach (how annoying is it when people do that?) and Lynette's fight with cancer is beginning to wear her down.

And of course something creepy this way comes in the form of Catherine and family. Ooh how the plot thickens.

There is something undeniably clever about the show. The characters are seriously flawed, conniving and shamelessly desperate and yet we can't help but love them.

One tried to fake her suicide, one is an adulterous gold digger, one is a neurotic people pleaser, one is an obsessive compulsive alcoholic who left one child out to fend for himself and is stealing her daughter's child. But still, they're our favourite people on TV.

The first episode of the new show reminded us of just that and what makes Desperate Housewives such a stand out show. You'll watch and laugh at the darkest of comedic moments. You'll cling to your pillow, cry and let out a little wail when the episode ends on the nail biting cliffhangers and trust me there's a lot more of these to come.

Episode one has whet our appetites once again and Wednesday night is the best night of the week again!
