Cult Classics
27.05.2008Any additions to my beauty regime are always welcome. From foundation primers to pre-shampoo hair treatments, it is the little extras that can make a whole big difference to how I look. Naturally, I’m quite a fan of face serums.
Applied after cleansing and before moisturising serums are a wonderful bonus to the skin-care routine and there is a wealth of products out there, each designed for specific skin concerns.
There are some of course that have made more of an impact than others. Achieving the oh-so-desirable cult following and creating serum-mania in their wake. Here’s my run down of the top cult face-serums.
No.7. Protect and Perfect
After Protect and Perfect Beauty Serum was featured on BBC2’s science programme, Horizon, beauty frenzy was created. The serum was found by researchers at the University of Manchester to be as effective as prescription products at reducing sun damage; a cause of ageing.
Containing peptides, which have been found to increase and support collagen production, and white lupin extract, which minimises the breakdown of collagen, Protect and Perfect can soften fine lines caused by photo-ageing.
Even if you don’t much care for anti-aging products, this serum is still a great addition to any make-up bag. The sleek formula seeps into skin to leave a smooth, non-greasy base which is a wonderfully effective primer for make-up.
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum
Chock-full of potent, anti-oxidant wielding Vitamin C, Truth Serum is a modern-day hero for troubled complexions. Not only does this sugary, orange sorbet scented serum immediately revitalise skin and impart it with a healthy glow, it fights off ageing nasties which float around the environment. The vitamin C has a multitude of benefits; strengthening and repairing collagen, soothing sensitive skin and moisturising dehydrated complexions. The super-vitamin has also been found to reduce scarring when applied topically, so Truth Serum also has the ability to even out skin tone and fade stubborn marks and scars.
