There is a baffling number of cleansers out there. They all claim to purify and purge our polluted skin but some have made a bigger impact than others. Some have even created a cult following for their miraculous cleaning power.

Cleansing is perhaps the most important part of a daily beauty routine. Banishing grime and clearing pores allows our skin to breathe and boosts our complexions.

Clean skin lets moisturiser sink in and make-up slide on with ease. Occasionally a gem of a cleanser comes along and causes such a ruckus that everyone wants a go; they develop a devoted following and soon reach the exalted status of ‘cult product’.

So, what’s all the fuss about? Are they really any different to other cleansers? Well, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and see what all the fuss is about with three highly praised cult cleansers.

Eve Lom Cleanser
A multi-tasking tool to remove eye and face makeup, decongest grime, tone and exfoliate. The Eve Lom cleanser reached cult status after Vogue described the magical pot as ‘probably the best cleanser in the world’. It’s not hard to see why. Suitable for all skin types, the gloopy concoction may look scarily rich but is a god-send for all skin types; whisking away dirt from pores and restoring moisture to dry areas. Applied to the skin in a specific massage (said to drain the lymph nodes and promote a healthy glow) and removed with a muslin cloth, this cleanser can be a bit of a chore on a late night. But, if you are in the right mindset, and not in a rush to get into bed, it is like treating yourself to a mini facial every evening. And the results in the morning? Let’s just say; believe the hype.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
This creamy cleanser works miracles on every skin type. A rich and velvety texture which packs a powerful punch of eucalyptus aroma, the luxurious blend of natural ingredients is massaged into dry skin before being buffed away with a warm, damp muslin cloth.
