TH - Well if you listen to one song, I think you can see the cheeky merits of it...

TAC - Do you think they're doing it deliberately?

TH - Yes!

TAC – So is it a gimmick?

TH - Yeah, well Lily Allen was one of the first people to come out and use that but I think it's been slightly overused. Both have some good songs, so I wouldn't take that away from them, but I think basing the whole of your music on that isn't very good. It's not something we're going to do.

TAC - There's a lot of bands out there today, and the market's becoming very saturated. What do you think you can offer that other bands can't?

TH - I think the first thing to know is we've not gone into it thinking that we've wanted to be in a particular genre. We've just been writing songs we've been writing since we were 14. If they get played now then that's great, but it's not something that we deliberately set out to do.

TAC - What was recording with Liam Watson (producer of White Stripes, Zutons and The Kills) like? Did you choose to work with him deliberately? Did you seek him out?

TH - Years ago Chris Gentry our manager got us to write down a lot of songs that we liked. It turned out that a lot of the ones that were on the list were produced by Liam Watson. He's got his trademark 60s approach and that was where our demos were at that moment. Our manager got in touch and he came to a gig and we took it from there.

TAC - Chris Gentry? Didn't he used to be in Menswear?

TH
- Yeah he did, we tease him about it sometimes.

TAC - And Elliot James (Bloc Party) is producing your album? And you've worked with John Cornfield – all these names! How did this come about?

TH - It was strange actually with John Cornfield. On that list of songs that I made, he'd produced two or three on there as well.
