Clock-Watching
10.04.2008Clocks are an indie-pop band from just outside London set for big things. They're currently on tour with Scouting For Girls, after which they'll be embarking on their own headlining UK tour. I spoke to Tom from the band to talk about touring, fake accents and Nick Drake...
Three's a Crowd - Hey Tom, how's it going?
Tom Hewitt - It's going good. I'm in Hull – we've got a gig tomorrow so I'm just chilling out. It's my first time in Hull actually, but I've just had a sausage sandwich so I'm happy so far.
TAC - So you're supporting Scouting For Girls? What's that been like?
TH - Good, yeah good so far.
TAC - Were you fans of their music before you went on tour with them?
TH - Their singles really stick in your head. We saw them at London Calling in Amsterdam where we played before and we liked them then, so we've known their stuff for quite a while.
TAC - You've actually supported a lot of people – The Feeling, The Departure, The Fray. Who's been your favourite?
TH -They've all been good. I think the Fray gig was especially good because it was before they'd made any impact in the UK. They were already pretty big in the states and it was at a small venue that was heaving with mainly American fans. That was our first experience of a really packed gig.
Everyone was really up for it and we really enjoyed ourselves?
TAC - Anyone you'd like to support?
TH - Yeah.....Rolling Stones. I think it's just their longevity. They've been around for such a long time.
TAC - Do you see yourself lasting as long as them then?
TH - Well fingers crossed!
TAC - You've got a headline tour of your own coming up soon? What's that feel like? Is it your first major tour?
TH - We're really looking forward to it.
