Bittersweet
25.04.2008The substance serves as a symbol of the ironies and truths of life; something can be very sweet and delicious, but if you're not careful, it can also burn you. Each of these women is involved in their own sweet experience that at the same time has the potential of danger.
This is a great and moving first feature-length film from director Nadine Labaki, and although ended a little abruptly, it leaves you with a warm, happy feeling only slightly tinged by the harsh realities of life. There could have been more closure at the end with each of the characters, specifically Rose, but it does leave the future of these women up to your imagination based on how well you've gotten to know them so far.
