How to get there?

You can drive over the Skye Bridge from mainland Scotland, which by twilight looks quite elegant. There's no toll for using the bridge.

You can also get a ferry from Glenelg which is about 170 miles from Glasgow. Don't worry, you can take your car with you on the ferry. Return journeys from £15.

What's to do?

There's an abundance of walking in Skye – The Cuillin Hills are a popular destination for climbers and walkers alike with breath-taking views straight out of postcard. You can visit nearby Dunvegan castle which dates from the 9th century or walk in the rolling green hills of the fairy glen where it's easy to lose track of time amongst the valleys If you don't feel like venturing outside, you can visit the famous Talisker Whiskey Distillery for a true taste of Scotland.

Isle of Wight

Where?

The Isle of Wight is south of Hampshire in southern England and has been noted since Victorian times as a holiday resort and is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. It's also home to the world famous Isle of Wight Festival held annually in June.

How to get there?

You can get there easily by Ferry in 23 minutes from Southampton which will drop you off at East Cowes or 55 minutes to West Cowes. Prices vary but are around £16.

Hovercraft from Southsea or Ryde is the fastest way to get there (10 minutes) and fares start at £10.20 per person.
