The Oscar nominations were announced this week and there are some clear frontrunners.

Although Atonement was nominated for seven awards neither Keira Knightley nor JamesMcAvoy received nominations.

However Saoirse Ronan, who plays the young Briony received a well deserved nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Johnny Depp will take on frontrunner Daniel Day Lewis as well as George Clooney, Tommy Lee Jones and Viggo Mortensen.

In the Leading Female category 20-year-old Ellen Page, who plays a pregnant teen in Juno, is up against Laura Linney, Marion Cotillard, Cate Blanchett and Julie Christie, who took home the Golden Globe.

The big one of the night, the Best Film is between Atonement, Juno, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood.
