Singing Sensation Adele, has raced to number one in the UK album chart with her début album 19.

The 19-year-old singer lived up to her status as the artist to watch in 2008 beating off competition from Scouting for Girls and Nickelback to hit the top spot.

The singer-songwriter's single Chasing Pavements only managed to hit number two in the singles chart beaten by Euro dance track "Now You're Gone" from Basshunter.

Nickelback's single "Rockstar" stayed at number three while Beyonce's ex bandmateKelly Rowland moved up to four with her single "Work." Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" dropped down to number five.
