A Touch of Sparkle

Def Leppard - Songs From the Sparkle Lounge

Album Review

A Touch of Sparkle

06.05.2008

Go has a bit of a heavy crunch – it wouldn’t sound out of place on their underrated Slang album – and even features a teasing old-school guitar duel. C’Mon C’Mon is yet further evidence of Leppard’s scientific mastery of the sing-along chorus, while Tomorrow could have been a Feeder single. As could Cruise Control. And, thinking about it, Only The Good Die Young as well. In their defence though, the Leppard boys were doing this eons ago. Grant Nicholas, man: what a charlatan.

So, long-time Leppard fans are well served here, with Sparkle Lounge ahead of Euphoria and X, and some distance beyond Adrenalize. The sceptics, needless to say, won’t be convinced. Here’s looking forward to 2015 for the follow-up.
