Welfare Fund Fails to Raise Cash For Him

Pete Doherty has been let out of jail 70 days early but he may need a little help getting back on his feet after a welfare fund set up for him only managed to raise £17.10.

Doherty was released just 29 days into his 14 week sentence and upon leaving the prison he shouted: "Thank you Mrs. Thatcher for putting me in the company of the most dangerous criminals in the country."

The singer has fought a very public battle with drug addiction and Lastseason.com took pity on the Babyshambles frontman.

The site launched the fund last month offering a select range of stripy tops with a percentage set aside to help Doherty once he got out of jail.

But the site only managed to sell six of the stripy tops and founder Stefan Passantino said: “We had planned to do a big presentation and get a big cheque made up.”

Mr Passantino today mailed the £17.10 cheque to Doherty's management which will be forwarded to charity.
