A Bonding experience
22.10.2008As Quantum of Solace is just around the corner, we thought we'd showcase some of the hotels used in the series and ideas for your perfect spy getaway.
Taj Lake Palace, India
Roger Moore raised many an eyebrow in Octopussy, not least because of the stunning location of the white marble 5-star Taj Lake Palace Hotel in India. It's on the shores of Lake Pichola and said to be one of the most romantic hotels in the world. The hotel is surrounded by manicured gardens and the guestrooms overlook the Lily Pond and gardens or the Terrace. Utterly stunning.
Hotels.co.uk prices start from £302 per room per night.
Grandhotel Pupp, Czech Republic
This epic hotel was used in 2006's Casino Royale as the Hotel Splendide, scene of the infamous poker showdown between Bond and mathematical genius and banker to villains, Le Chiffre. The opulant Grand Restaurant is also where you can see Vesper and Bond enjoy their victory dinner with neo-classical interiors and an epic dining space.
Grandhotel Pupp are currently running an “In the tracks of 007” experience which for £237 off season is an absolute bargain. It includes dinner with 007's menu and a trip to the shooting range where you can fire Bond's legendary pistol, the Walter PPK.
Dukes Hotel, London
The Dukes Hotel in London is where Ian Fleming himself allegedly coined the classic phrase “shaken not stirred”. They're running a "Bond About Town" package until the end of December which includes:
Overnight stay for two in a Classic Double Room
Wet shave at Truefitt & Hill for him
Miss Moneypenny manicure or pedicure for her
Martini masterclass including a Vesper Martini each
3 Course Dinner in The Dining Room at Dukes
