To be honest, I hadn't heard of Kenna before I was given the chance to interview him.

But once I heard he'd worked with Justin Timberlake and Mark Ronson I thought I should give him a listen so I clicked on his myspace page and found I was listening to a Neptunes-esque track with influences of blues, techno, rock and it works

With a unique sound, brains and charm to match I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more of Kenna soon. Here's what happened last week when I had a telephone chat with the man himself.

Hi Kenna, how are you liking London?

KENNA: I've been to London before but I'm loving it. Oh wait. My mum just emailed me. My mum's great. She sends me vitamins and makes smoothies every Sunday even when I'm not there and my dad's like 'I got to drink your smoothie.'

So what are you going to be doing while you're here?

KENNA: I'm doing shows. I have a show tonight and then it's the Waterats and then a bunch of academies.

You've worked with Mark Ronson. He's big news now. What was that like?

KENNA: He looks like a Beatle but he looks good as a Beatle. Oh, This guy's an asshole.

Who, Mark Ronson?

KENNA: No. Rush Limbaugh. He's an asshole. He's this American radio host and I'm just listening to him and he's lashing out about Obama about his speech he gave on race saying he sold out his grandma. Is he deaf? Did he even hear the speech? Obama was saying that he's a product of all different kinds of people and acknowledging that prejudice exists from every side.

So, are you backing Obama then?

KENNA: You know what, I back hope. I'm a magnanimous kid. And he is hope incarnate. Sorry I got distracted so yeah Mark Ronson looks like a Beatle.

How did that pairing happen?

KENNA: I met him several years ago DJing in New York and he was spinning and I was dancing to everything and I said you're dope and you've got the pulse of people .
